The 5th Year Program was Developed
the 5th year program was developed for students in grade 6 through grade 12 and implemented in 2015. The 5th year program provides manufacturing courses each year for students in grade 6 through grade 10 so they will have knowledge about manufacturing and can therefore make an intelligent career choice at the beginning of grade 11. Students entering the program in grade 11 can graduate from the 5th year program (after completing high school and completing the final year at MTC) with a high school diploma, an MTC certificate, an AS degree, and a job (90% of AMTC students have a job before they graduate)
The training model is an excellent one and is recognized by Governor Malloy as the best manufacturing training program in CT, if not in all of New England. The goal in establishing the program was to give the student plenty of hands on manual projects, plus CNC programming and operation knowledge. In addition, math through trigonometry is stressed plus blueprint reading and GD&T.
